About the Founder

Dr. Adam Abramson is a senior researcher at the Migal Galilee Research Institute in Qiryat Shmona in Israeli’s upper Galilee region. He is an agricultural economist whose research focuses on the potential of technology and specifically ICT and digital technologies, to improve farmer performance and profitability. He has 15 years of experience living, working and researching smallholder farmers in Africa and Asia.

As an entrepreneur, he founded Farmster, a digital platform for connecting smallholder farmers with buyers, and FarmHive (www.farmhive.co), a social network for agriculture designed to connect farmers, agronomists and researchers and enable digital collaboration and information sharing in real-time. He has led various innovative technology products through their life cycle including a Gates Foundation-funded mobile technology project, and various agricultural and water projects in Africa.

He is a mentor for the Pears Challenge 2025: ClimateTech, a unique venture-building program helping early-stage Israeli founders validate and grow impactful ClimateTech solutions for East Africa. He has received competitive research grants throughout his career, but aims to create new channels of funding to transform and direct current research systems toward the needs of smallholder farmers worldwide.
